Switching from Day One to Corlys

Corlys is a journal for iPhone and iPad. If you keep a journal in Day One and want your entries to be more than an archive, this page tells you what moves over, what does not, and why you might switch.

Three reasons to switch

Your entries can leave the app. Every new entry can go to a webhook you choose: into an Obsidian daily note, a task manager, an n8n workflow. Typed or dictated, it arrives as plain text or Markdown, in your own words. How webhooks work

Speech is recognised on the device. Dictation is transcribed on your iPhone by Apple’s speech recognition. There is no account. Entries sync through your private iCloud. Titles and the coach use Apple Intelligence, on the device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute: text only, never audio. A webhook receives only what you set up yourself.

The journal is free. Writing, dictation, transcripts, calendar, map, photos, import and webhooks cost nothing.

What the import brings over

Export your journal in Day One as JSON (Settings → Import/Export). In Corlys, open Settings → Import from Day One and pick the ZIP file or the unpacked folder.

You can run the import again later. Entries that are already there are skipped. Imported entries are not sent to your webhooks.

What you will miss

Corlys runs on Apple devices only. There is no Android app, no web app, no video in entries, no tags and no printed books. If you rely on one of these, Day One is the better choice for you.

What you gain

Day One is a trademark of its owner. Corlys is not affiliated with Day One.
